VA may rate an unlisted condition under a closely related disease or injury using an analogous, built-up diagnostic code.
The percentage guide shows the levels found in the selected diagnostic code. Medical evidence, service connection, effective dates, overlapping symptoms, staged ratings, and VA adjudication can change the actual outcome.
Use the schedule search above, then choose “Add condition.”
Mark the exact left or right arm/leg only when a compensable condition affects that extremity. The calculator applies 38 C.F.R. § 4.26 and checks whether excluding a disability from the bilateral calculation produces a more favorable combined evaluation.
Uses official VA rates effective December 1, 2025. Add dependents and an SMC-K award only when they are recognized by VA.
This checks the basic “one at 60%” or “combined 70% with one at 40%” paths. VA can treat certain related disabilities as one, and extraschedular TDIU may still apply. Unemployability must be established separately.
Review 38 C.F.R. § 4.16Loss or loss of use, aid and attendance, housebound status, and certain combinations can qualify for SMC even when ordinary VA math does not show the full payment.
